Giving the Gift of Hearing

At Amplify Hearing, our mission extends beyond our clinics. We believe everyone deserves the chance to experience the world through sound, and we’re incredibly proud to support a truly life-changing initiative that embodies this belief. We’ve partnered with an inspiring network to bring essential hearing care to those who need it most, regardless of where they live.

How our charity hearing partnership works

Our journey takes us to the area of La Romana in the Dominican Republic. Here, in collaboration with the Good Samaritan Hospital, Rotary Portland Maine, Rotary International, and the Rotary Action Group for Peace, we’re helping to deliver the invaluable gift of hearing. For over two decades, the dedicated audiologists and Rotarians, Drs. Roger and Liz Fagan, have made 26 trips, distributing more than 4,500 hearing aids. Their incredible work focuses on transforming the lives of children and sugar cane workers, particularly in the Batayes, who often suffer from hearing loss due to untreated childhood fevers. Many of these children, with little access to education or communication, are mistakenly labelled as “slow learners” until a hearing aid completely transforms their world.

The programme is meticulously managed: local healthcare workers perform hearing tests and using audiograms to ensure every aid is programmed accurately before being fitted in person. Amplify Hearing proudly contributes to this effort by collecting unwanted, working hearing aids from our generous patients and practices. These aids are given a vital second life, reaching communities where access to hearing care is almost non-existent. We’ve also donated funds to provide a full year’s supply of rechargeable units and solar chargers, ensuring these life-changing devices can be powered even in remote villages without reliable electricity.

How you can help with the charity partnership

This vital work is only possible thanks to collective kindness. We’re currently aiming to collect at least 300 more working hearing aids for the next mission trip. If you have working hearing aids you no longer need (unfortunately, NHS hearing aids cannot be accepted), please consider donating. All working aids are welcome, no need for pairs, and rechargeable aids with their base units are particularly useful. You can post your donation to: Charity Partnership Collection, Amplify Hearing Head Office, India Mill Business Centre, Bolton Road, Darwen, BB3 1AE. Alternatively, feel free to drop them off at your local Amplify Hearing practice. Together, we can continue to amplify lives through the power of hearing.
